White's historical note: 2 Dec 1705: Expropriation d'un emplacement, "joignant du cote du vieux fort: et appartenant à Jean Blanchard, pour l'extension du fort De Port Royal (ANF, Col, C11D, vol V, fol 157). Comme Jean Blanchard etait decede depuis au delà De douze ans, ill faut supposer que ses heritiers etaient les proprietaires De cette terre en 1705....Translation....Expropriation of a portion, ' a part of the coast and old fort:' that belonging to Jean Blanchard, for the extension of the fort of Port Royal. Since Jean Blanchard was dead for more than a dozen years, and it was unknown who were the inheritants of the said properties of the estate in 1705. Listed in Port Royal Census of 1671 (Ref. "The Acadian Miracle" by Dudley J. LeBlanc, pp. 21 25): Jean Blanchard, 60, wife, Radagonde Lambert children: Martin 24 , Madeline 28, Anne 26, Guillaume 21, Bernard 18, Marie 15 cattle 12, sheep 9.


May be the Blanchard recorded by Bona Arsenault in "History of the Acadians" as having come from LaRochelle, France, in 1636 on the "St Jehan", the first ship to bring French families to Acadia.


Found in 1671 census of Port Royal, Acadia, with wife Radegonde Lambert children: Martin, 24 Madeline, 28 Anne, 26 Guillaume , 21 Bernard, 18 Marie , 15 12 cattle and 9 sheep. [The Acadia n Miracle, pg. 22]

Listed in the 1678 Acadian census as having 6 acres, 17 cattle, 1 gun, 2 boys and 1 girl."
