Margaret A. Slattery, 74, of Camillus, died Monday at Community General Hospital. Born in New York City, she was a graduate of Bushwick High School, St. John's Long Island City Hospital School of Nursing and Syracuse University. She was in the first graduating Class of Nurse Practitioners at Upstate Medical Center, and worked in Brooklyn, Penn Yan, Clifton Springs, California, Syracuse , Norfolk, VA, and in Buffalo retiring from Kenmore Mercy Hospital as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner.
A member of the Nurse Practitioners' Association and the American Nursing Association, Peg was a communicant of Holy Family Church and a Eucharistic Minister at Community General Hospital. She was a volunteer with the Camillus Canal Association and Literacy Volunteers of Greater Syracuse . She was predeceased by two sisters and two brothers: Mary Griffiths, Agnes "Jean" Krebs, Joseph, and James Slattery.
Survived by her brother, John (Mary Ellen) Slattery of Clayton, NY; her sister, Elizabeth (Burton) Goldfarb of Newton, MA; 21 nieces and nephews; and 39 great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in Most Holy Rosary Church. Burial will be in St. Mary's of the Lake Cemetery, Skaneateles. Friends may call Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Whelan Bros. Funeral Home, 3700 W. Genesee St.
