Gordon Hatch
Gordon H. Hatch of Southbury, passed away at the River Glen Health Care Facility, July 30, 2009. He was 96 years old. He was born to Louis and Helen Hatch of Danbury, January 14, 1913. He was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Blanche (Sims) Hatch, his brother, Milton, and a sister, Gertrude. He is survived by his sister, Marion (Hatch) Feige of Trumbull, and his four children, Gordon (Skip) Hatch of Ingleside, Texas, David Hatch of Clinton Tenn., Justine Hatch Carson of Half Moon Bay, Calif. and John Hatch of Trumbull. He had five grandchildren, Jessie, Julian, Catherine (Rosie), Stephanie, and Tyler, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Gordon grew up on the family farm in Danbury, and later attended Pratt School of Design, in Brooklyn, N.Y. He became a mechanical engineer and designer, working at The Bristol Co., Pitney Bowes, Barden Corp., Bosch Mfg., Dolan Bros., and Branson Sonic Power among others. He was a long time resident of Candlewood Shores in Brookfield, and after retirement, they moved to New Bern, N.C., and later, W. Gouldsboro, Maine. He was an avid photographer. He was a long time member of the Candlewood Camera Club, and later, the Heritage Village Camera Club. He won many awards, and his favorite subjects were nature, birds in particular. He remained active un-til January of 2008, when he suffered a stroke, and has been a resident of River Glen Health Care Facility since then. A memorial service will be held at St. Paul Episcopal Church, in Brookfield, at 3 p.m. Saturday, August 1st. Interment of the ashes will be at a later date.
