Rachel Elizabeth Maguire

Rachel, age 64, beloved sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, went home to be with the Lord, May 30, 2001 after a short lived, hard fought and courageous battle with lung cancer. Born on March 31, 1937 in San Antonio to Susie Novella and Rev. Charles E. Teague, Sr. As a young teenager, the family moved to Austin for several years. Living in and out of San Antonio for many years, she permanently returned in 1986. She was predeceased by her father, Rev. Teague in 1960; her mother, Susie in 1996; her stepfather, Rev. Daniel Mooney in 1962; her brothers, Billy Doyle in 1946 and James Oliver in 1984. She is survived by daughters, Patti Maguire-Weis with grandchildren, Cassandra and Rachel and Charlotte and Bryan-Matzke with husband Marty and grandchildren, Shawn with his wife Susan, Kimberly with her husband Anthony and great-grandchildren Ashley, Joseph and Sarah; son, Donald Hoofard with grandchildren, Dawn Brewster with great-grandchildren, Larissa, Cole and Kendall, Charles, Shaun with his wife Lisa and great-grandchild, Faithlynn and Charles, Jr. She is also survived by her sister, Hazel; brothers, Robert and Donald, Jr. with his wife Marilyn; stepsisters and brothers, Dorothy, Irene, Hoyt, Mary, Bob, Clarence, Margie, Danny, Jr., Peggy, Charlie, Nellie, Stanley and Jeanne and special friends, Charles McGee, Sylvia Vasquez and family and Carrie Roberts. In addition to numerous aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins. She will be well remembered as the best mom and friend anyone could have besides being the 'Best Nail Lady in San Antonio' after taking care of and serving her clients, most of who were as close to her as family for the past 10 years at the well-known Nails by Rachel salon on the south side of the city. She will be truly missed by all who knew her. Visitation will begin today at 12:00 Noon in South Side Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at 10:00 A.M. in South Side Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Lenard officiating. Interment will follow in San Fernando Cemetery No. 3. South side Funeral Home.
