Dean Henry Detton Jr. October 23, 1931 April 29, 2015 In loving memory of Dean Henry Detton Jr, born in Salt Lake City, Utah on October 23, 1931 to parents Dean Henry Detton, Sr. and Maline Pessetto Detton. Dean Henry Detton, Jr. died peacefully with his family at his side on April 29, 2015 due to complications after a medical procedure.Dean graduated from Hayward High School in 1949 then moved on to study Business Administration at San Jose State University. After three years at San Jose State, Dean decided to join the U.S. Air Force in 1952. He served his country for 4 years as an Air Traffic Controller, leaving the Air Force with an honorable discharge. Much later in life he completed his Bachelor's Degree at California State University at Hayward.Dean met his first wife Patricia Hinton Detton when he was 12 years old. They went to the same high school, albeit three years apart. They reunited in 1959, and in 1960 they decided to marry and start a family together. Wasting little time, their son Dean Albert was born in 1961. Their next child, Deena Marie was born in 1966. During this time, Dean worked for the City of Hayward, first as a zoning inspector then promoted to Zoning Administrator. In addition to his full time work, Dean coached Little League, finished his degree at Cal State Hayward, earned extra money as a Pro Wrestling Referee and was a devoted husband and father. Dean and Patricia were married for 17 years.He later moved to Incline Village, NV where he worked at the Ponderosa Ranch with his younger sister, Joyce Anderson Bock. In February of 1985, while working at the Ponderosa, he met Eunice Requenez-Detton. They married 3 years later and have kept a deep love for each other ever since. After working at the Ponderosa for several years, Dean returned to Urban Planning. He worked in the Douglas County Planning Department for 2 years, then worked as a City Planner for Reno, where he retired after 10 years of employment. Dean passed away just a couple days shy of his 27th Wedding Anniversary with Eunice. Dean's marriage to Eunice was centered on their love for each other, love of family and love of God. Dean played a very important role as the step-father for Eunice's two sons, Jonathon and Ethan Warmkessel. In his spare time Dean enjoyed golf, fishing and spending time with his family.Dean was loved by his family and friends. His thoughtfulness and kindness will never be forgotten. He will be remembered as a dedicated, loving husband, father, step-father and grandfather. We are all saddened by his death, but rejoice in the hope of a life beyond this earth where we will be reunited again.Dean was preceded in death by his parents. Dean is survived by his wife Eunice Requenez-Detton, son Dean Albert Detton (spouse Dawn Zoller Detton and grandson Zachary Robert Detton), daughter Deena Marie Detton, step son Jonathan Warmkessel (spouse Deborah Jennings Warmkessel, and their six children), step son Ethan Warmkessel (spouse Laura Carlin Warmkessel), his sister Joyce Anderson Bock, nephew Royce Anderson, and niece Jillaine Geddes. A Memorial in his honor will be held on Friday, May 15, 2015, at 1:00 P.M. at the Truckee Seventh-day Adventist Church, 11662 Hope Court, Truckee, CA 96161. Burial Service with Military Honors will be held at the Truckee Cemetery, 10370 E. Jibboom St, Truckee, CA. Reception to follow Burial Service at the Truckee Seventh-day Adventist Church.
