Obituary

Artemisia Demopoulos Aycrigg Artemisia Demopoulos Aycrigg, 94, passed away August 12, 2018, sur- rounded by her children and grandchildren. Born to Athanasios John Demopoulos and Cleo Malama Demopoulos in Logansport, IN, she moved to Orlando, FL as a child and graduated from Orlando High School. She then moved to Hartford, CT to care for her brother Steve after he suffered a spinal injury. In Hartford, she worked as a legal secretary for Thomas J. Dodd, who later became a U.S. Senator. Upon returning to Orlando, she met and married Benjamin Aycrigg, who was a news anchor and director for many years on Channel 6, WCPX, a CBS affiliate. Artie worked for Dr. Eugene Jewett, founder of the Jewett Clinic in Orlando. She and Ben raised their three children, Chris, Jono, and Betsy in Orlando, put- ting them and their marriage above all else. Artie was a homemaker extraordinaire, gourmet cook, and master seamstress. She was very social and cultured, with a sweet and gentle presence. Her kindness and service to others was expressed in many ways. She was a life- long member of All Saints Episcopal Church in Winter Park, serving there as the president of The Daughters of the King and the head of the Wedding Guild. She was predeceased by her parents, brother Steve, and husband. She will be greatly missed and lovingly re- membered by her brother John (Barbara), nephews Steve and Paul, nieces Dona and Nancy; her son Chris (Cindy), granddaughters Emily and Alison (Andrew); her son Jono (Mary), who tenderly cared for her and Ben in their last years, grandchildren Lydia (Matty) and Ben; and her daughter Betsy (Thurman), grandsons Travis and Justin. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 23rd at 2 p.m. at All Saints Episcopal Church in Winter Park.
