Obituary

NORWELL - Richard Lee Hopfner, 66, of Norwell, a graphic designer, died Wednesday at home of melanoma.

He owned Richard Hopfner Studio Inc. of Abington for 38 years.

He was an Army veteran.

He was born and raised in Hartford, Conn., and lived in Norwell for 26 years.

He was a graduate of William Hall High School in West Hartford, attended Earlham College in Richmond, Ind., and graduated from the New England School of Art in Boston.

He is survived by his wife, Sally A. (Johnson) Hopfner; a daughter, Robin L. Watson of Henrietta, N.Y.; two sons, Eric S. Hopfner of Newport, Conn., and Adam Hopfner of Guilford, Conn.; his mother, Lillian (Blessing) Hopfner; and a grandson. He was also the son of the late Elmer Hopfner.

A memorial gathering will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the McNamarra-Sparrell Funeral Home, 30 Central St., Norwell. Burial will be private.
