John Nicholson III PITTSFIELD - John Nicholson III, 69, of 41 Easton St., Nantucket, a native of Pittsfield, died at the Nantucket Cottage Hospital on Feb. 4 after a long illness. Mr. Nicholson was born March 6, 1918, the son of the late John Nicholson Jr. and Doris Nicholson. He graduated from Pittsfield High School, attended Darrow School in Lebanon, N.Y., and graduated in 1939 from Hobart College, Geneva, N.Y., with a degree in business administration. During World War II he was a staff sergeant in the Army's coast artillery. - He was a salesman for International Silver Company in Meri-den, Conn., from 1946 to 1977. On June 7, 1947, he married the late Jane St. Cyr of Meriden. He was a member of the Pacific Club and the Nantucket Anglers' Club. He leaves a son, Jeffrey John Nicholson, and a daughter, Mrs. Jane Nicholson Hardy, both of Nantucket, and three grandchildren. The funeral was at St. Mary's Church, Nantucket, Feb. 6.
