E. B. Mitchell Dies, Founded Funeral Home

"EASTHAMPTON - Edmund B. Mitchell, 69, of 21 Center St., founder of Edmund B. Mitchell & Son Funeral home, died Wednesday in Cooley Dickinson Hospital, Northampton."

"Mr. Mitchell became sick while conducting a funeral in Southampton Congregational Church, and was taken to the hospital by ambulance."

"Mr. Mitchell lived here all his life and was a graduate of Williston Academy and Boston School of Anatomy and Embalming. He had been in the funeral and monument business since being graduated."

"He was a member of Easthampton Congregational Church, past master of Ionic Lodge of Masons, a member of James Rogerson Royal Arch Chapter, past patron of the Easter Star, a member of the Grange, Farmers Club, Dalton - Lavallee Post, American Legion, Main Street Cemetery Committee, Monument Builders of America and Williston Academy Alumni Association. Besides his wife, the former Eileen H. Brouilette, he leaves a son, David E and a daughter, Mrs. Bruce R. Craig, all of Easthampton. Edmund B. Mitchell & Son funeral home is in charge. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery."
