DEATH OF AGAWAM MAN
"The death of George Crouss took place yesterday afternoon at his home on the corner of Suffield and Silver streets in Agawam. Mr Crouss was a strong, robust man, and had enjoyed excellent health all his life until a few months ago, when he was stricken with paralysis. For the last few weeks he had been failing, and a second stroke ended his life. He was born in Hildburgausen, Ger., January 10, 1834. He came to New York in 1851, and afterward to Pittsfield, where he was united in marriage to Miss Augusta A. Vogel in 1856. The farm which he occupied was purchased 26 years ago, and Mr and Mrs Crouss had since been valued residents of Agawam. Mr Crouss was of a genial disposition, cordial in his friendships and upright and honorable in his business relations. He leaves, besides his widow, seven children - George Henry and Mrs Percy Fletcher of Springfield, Mrs George Ahl of East Hartford, Ct., Mrs George Edwards of Pittsfield, Willard C., Charles P. and Mrs Ward Thompson of Agawam. The funeral will be held at his home tomorrow at 2:30."

"The funeral of George Crouss was held at his late home yesterday afternoon. A large number of relatives and friends were present. Rev D. W. Lyman read the scriptures and spoke. Rev Walter Rice read Mrs Cook's beautiful poem, 'Hints and glimpses,' and offered prayer. Mrs Taylor Parsons sang 'Jesus, Lover of My Soul,' 'Sunset and Evening Star,' and 'He leadeth Me.' There was a profusion of beautiful flowers. The bearers were Mr Crouss's sons and sons-in-law. The burial was in the Center cemetery."
