Sumner Lincoln Keyes, "Curly", age 85 years, entered eternity on Saturday, January 2, 2021. Curly Keyes was born on November 21, 1935 in Rhode Island to Royce Webber Keyes, Sr, and Sara Moore Keyes. He joined his older brother, Royce Webber Keyes, Jr. Curly grew up on the east coast moving from Rhode Island to Connecticut in his early years. He completed his eighth-grade education before joining the work force. Later in his years, he completed his GED. He was also part of the Air National Guard/ Reserve from 1951 to 1961 as a Still Photographer and Photographic Repairman.

Curly married the love of his life, Marilyn Elaine Beebe, on October 12, 1957. They were married at the North Methodist Church in Manchester, CT. Curly worked in a variety of fields. He worked for Bergren Dairy in East Hartford early on, Guida’s dairy delivering milk, Pratt & Whitney, J.R. Renaud Machine making and testing metal parts. Curly was also a volunteer fireman for Marion Fire Department in Marion, CT. Curly and Marilyn raised their three daughters in Marion, CT. They moved to Hanford, CA in 1991. After arriving in Hanford, he went to work for his son in law at Bill’s Bicycle Shop in sales and service. Curly and Marilyn moved to Pismo Beach in 2016.

Curly enjoyed spending time with his family as often as possible. He loved to share his faith and encouragement with all. He was very active in each community where he lived. Curly was a devoted believer in his Savior Jesus Christ. This led him to be a part of Gideons, Prison Ministry, and a facilitator for Celebrate Recovery, and Peoples Kitchen in Five Cities Area. He was also an avid golfer and played with members of RAM-Retired Active Men- at the coast. Curly also loved a good debate or discussion on just about any subject. He always said he was never too old to learn something new.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marilyn, his three daughters, Donna Silva (Mike) from Arroyo Grande, Darlene Kelly (Jim) from Grover Beach, Rene’ Briere (Mike) from Wolcott, CT; nine grandchildren, Olivia Silva, Kirsten Silva, Emily Silva, Vanessa (Justin) Bailey, Tyler Kelly, Sean (Megan) Kelly, Sam Kelly, Dustin (Lauren) Briere, and Jessica (Alex) Briere. He is also survived by nine great children and nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents and his brother.

There will be a family gathering on April 4, 2021, Easter Sunday, to celebrate Curly’s life. Curly will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was "big as life" and had a laugh and smile to remember.
