Obituary



RANDOLPH -- Marie E. Farina, 54, of Belmont Avenue passed away Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2006, at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta.

She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Feb. 28, 1952, a daughter of Salvatore and Beatrice Alence Flaviani. Marie was a graduate of Catherine McCauley High School in Brooklyn, N.Y., and attended the State University of New York.

She was a longtime parishioner of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Gardiner where she was a faith formation teacher for many years. She also helped out at beano and the Christmas fair. Marie was a very talented rug hooker and craftperson. She was a member of the National Organization of Rug Hookers.

She is survived by her husband of 29 years, John Farina of Randolph; her son, Joel Farina of Randolph; two brothers, Vincent Flaviani and wife Gail of Houston, and James Flaviani and wife Tracey of Georgia; a sister, Beatrice Sellers of Cobleskill, N.Y.; and several aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and cousins.

Visiting hours will be held 6-8 p.m. Friday at Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Ave., Gardiner. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Gardiner.
