Obituary
Edward Robert Hansen passed away at home on May 18, 2016 at the age of 90 due to heart failure. He was born April 17, 1926 in Hartford, Connecticut. Ed attended Buckley High School and at age 18 joined the U.S. Army. He served his country proudly in the artillery division during World War II. Upon returning home he married his high school sweetheart Sydney Vaughn Livingston and they were happily married for 62 years. They raised their two children and foster children in Coventry. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and was a long time Boston Red Sox fan. He worked for 39 years at Royal Typewriter on the assembly line before retiring. He then worked part-time as the sexton for Elmwood Community Church. Ed will be remembered for his big smile and entertaining stories. He leaves behind his son Donald Hansen and his wife Martha; and his daughter Claudia Haxton and her husband Brian; four grandchildren, Karina Fournier and her husband Peter; Lance Hansen and his wife Valerie; Daysha Haxton and her husband Ron Linstruth; and Brian Haxton. He had four great-grandchildren, Serena Briggs, Paige, Marin, and David Fournier; as well as many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be private with interment at Fairview Cemetery in West Hartford on Saturday, June 4th at 12 noon. In lieu of flowers a contribution may be made in his name to Elmwood Community Church, 26 Newington Rd. West Hartford, CT 06110.
