"CLARKSBURG Mrs. Janet Slade, 88, of 300 Henderson Road died Thursday at Berkshire Medical Center.

Born in Clarksburg on April 24, 1910, daughter of William McLean and Mary Oliver McLean, she attended school in Clarksburg. She attended Drury High School in North Adams.

She was employed for a short time in the finishing department at the former Strong Hewitt Co. in Clarksburg until her marriage. She was a homemaker and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She married Charles Slade on Oct. 14, 1929. Mr. Slade died Aug. 29, 1988.

She leaves a son, John M. Slade of Dalton; three daughters, Mrs. Barbara Pomeroy of Lanesboro, Mrs. Mary A. LaPierre of Clarksburg and Sister Nancy Jane Slade of Adams; one brother, Dr. John O. McLean, Ph.D., of Richmond; five grandsons; and two great-grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE Private graveside services for Janet McLean Slade will take place in the family plot in Clarksburg Cemetery, Clarksburg, with the Rev. Peter Elvin, rector of St. John's Episcopal Church of Williamstown, officiating. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations are suggested for St. John's Episcopal Church of Williamstown through the FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, CENTRAL CHAPELS, 74 Marshall St., North Adams 01247, which is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include five grandchildren, Robert Slade and William Pomeroy of Pittsfield, Michael LaPierre of Clarksburg, Thomas Slade of Stamford, Vt., and Jeffrey Slade of Dalton; and two great-grandchildren, Justin and Krista Slade of Stamford, Vt."
