On Thursday, September 12, 2002 of Falls Church, VA. Husband of the late Anne D. Guthrie and father of the late Arthur A. Guthrie. Survived by a sister, Myrtice G. Neal and dear friend Raleigh Miller. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, October 16, at 4 p.m. at the Columbia Baptist Church, West Columbia and Washington St., Falls Church, VA. Deceased Name: Lamar E. Guthrie
90, a retired Federal Aviation Administration lawyer, died of cancer Sept. 12 at Inova Fairfax Hospital. Mr. Guthrie was born in Morganton, Ga. He graduated from the University of Georgia and Yale Law School. He served in the Navy during World War II.
After the war, he joined the FAA in New York, where he worked on public airport development. In 1958, he transferred to the Office of Airports in Washington. He retired from the FAA in 1981.
He lived in Falls Church and was a deacon and lead usher at Columbia Baptist Church there.
His wife, Anne D. Guthrie, died in 2000,and their son, Arthur Allen Guthrie, died in 2001. Survivors include a sister.
