Obituary



Charles B. Crawford Sr. of Tolland and formerly of Enfield entered into eternal rest at the age of 94 on Friday, Dec. 20, 2013, at Rockville General Hospital.

He was the beloved husband of 63 years to the late Barbara R. (Cole) Crawford (2010). Charles was born on July 22, 1919, in the Poquonock section of Windsor, son of the late William and Helen (Schmidt) Crawford, and had resided in Enfield for 50 years and the past eight years in Tolland. A devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, his main goal in life was caring for his loving family, and he loved time spent with them, especially during the holidays and special occasions.

Charles is survived by his loving children, Charles B. Jr. and wife, Debra, of East Hampton, Barbara Cormier and husband, Ray, of Sandisfield, Mass., Norma Pare and husband, James, of Enfield, Charlene Tkacz of Agawam, Mass., Robert Crawford and wife, Sue, of South Glastonbury, Marlene Morassi and husband, Frank, of West Springfield, Mass., Mary Courchaine of Enfield, Kenneth Crawford and wife, Patricia, of Enfield, Jean Hanson of Enfield, Joan Plonski and husband, John, of Enfield, Douglas Crawford and wife, Wendy, of Tolland, David Crawford and Bill Gauthier of Enfield, and Donald Crawford and wife, Jean, of New Port Richey, Fla.; and his beloved and cherished 24 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews. Besides his wife and parents, Charles was also predeceased by a grandson, Tom Cormier.

Relatives and friends may gather with his family during calling hours on Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, 43 Shaker Road, Enfield.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, at 12:30 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, followed by interment with full military honors in the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Agawam, Mass.
