Arlene Monahan
BAINBRIDGE - Mrs. Arlene Monahan, 74, of 32 Juliand St., Bainbridge, a beloved wife, mother, and friend passed away Friday, Jan. 1, 1999, at her home, following a long, courageous battle with cancer.

She was born Sept. 1, 1924, in Harpursville, the daughter of William and Bernice (Johnston) Orth.

She was married to James V. Monahan, June 26, 1943, in Deposit.

She was a 55-year resident of Bainbridge, an avid bowler, and enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking.

Mrs. Monahan is survived by her husband, James V. Monahan of Bainbridge; a daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Gary LeFever of Unadilla; two sons and a daughter-in-law, William and Cathy Monahan of Bothell, Wash. and Larry Monahan of Norwich; also seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 7, 1999, at the Westcott Funeral Home, Unadilla, with the Rev. R. Michael Amos, pastor of the Fellowship Baptist Church, Unadilla, officiating.
Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday at 1 p.m., when the family will be in attendance.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Chenango County, Norwich, Bainbridge Emergency Squad or the American Cancer Society.

Funeral arrangements are by the Westcott Funeral Home, Unadilla.
