DUDLEY - Albert R. "Bobby" Jones, 73, of 91 Cortis Road, died Tuesday, Dec. 14, in St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester, after being stricken ill at home.

His second wife of 16 years, Irene (Fleury) Feige Jones, died in 1998. His first wife of 18 years, Vera A. (Washburn) Jones, died in 1982. He leaves two stepsons, Willard Feige of Charlton and Clifford Feige of Southbridge; four stepdaughters, Nola J. Washburn and Joan C. Blanchard, both of Dudley, Veda M. Cournoyer, with whom he lived, and Karen A. Carpenter of Charlton; two brothers, his twin, Arthur R. "Dickie" Jones Jr. of Southbridge and Harold Jones of Washington; a sister, Audrey Hardy of Milford, Conn.; four half-brothers, Roger Jones of New York, Raymond Jones of Farmington, Conn., Henry Jones of Dudley, John Jones of Woodstock, Conn.; two half-sisters, Barbara Jones of Wilbraham and Pauline Edwards of Woodstock; 18 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; two great-great-granddaughters; nephews and nieces. His stepson, Albert Washburn of Webster, and his stepdaughter, Nancy Williams of Palmer, both died in 1976. He was born in Meriden, Conn., son of Arthur R. Jones Sr. and Ruby M.A. (Spencer) Jones. He was raised by his stepmother, Elizabeth (Babon) Jones. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Europe. Mr. Jones was a construction worker at Shields Construction Co. in Southbridge for more than 35 years, retiring in 1991. He previously worked at Hilltop Potato Farm. After retiring, he worked at East Acres Farm for five years.

He was an active member and past commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Quinebaug.

The funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 17, in Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School St., Webster. Burial will be in Corbin Cemetery. Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 16, in the funeral home.
