Joseph C. Snow

Narrowsburg, N.Y.
Joseph C. Snow of Narrowsburg, Superintendent of Mid Orange Correctional Facility, and a longtime resident of the area, died Monday, October 3, 2005 at the Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale, Pa. He was 76.


The son of the late Clarence and Marian DAvignon Snow, he was born October 30, 1928 in Plattsburgh, N.Y.

Mr. Snow was a veteran of the United States Army, where he received a Korean Service Medal with one Bronze Star. He was a member of the Tusten-Highland Post #6427 Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion Post #0315.

Mr. Snow retired as Superintendent of Mid Orange Correctional Facility in Warwick, N.Y. in 1991 after 36 years of dedicated service. During his career he received many awards, including the prestigious State Chairmans Highest Award given at the United States Military Academy at West Point for Significant Contributions to the Support of the Military Reserve Forces. He was noted for implementing many innovative programs at the prison and received many commendations for his dedication to the community service.

Joseph was a devoted husband to his wife of 53 years, Dolores, and loving father who cherished his family. He was a loving grandfather and great-grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, Dolores Souza Snow, at home; two sons, Michael Snow and his fianc e, Patricia Spencer, of Pine Bush, and Daniel Snow and his wife, Stacie, of Beach Lake, Pa.; two daughters, Cynthia Kryger and her husband, Michael, of Montgomery, and Joanne Snow and her husband, Gerard Manzi, of Narrowsburg; one sister, Jimmie Bernard of California; eight grandchildren: Michael and Joseph Snow, Sarah Snow and Ryan OKeefe, Katy Duffany and Chris Terwilliger, and Jenna and Johnny Snow-Manzi; one great-grandchild, Justin Duffany; and several nephews.

There will be a private viewing for the family at Rasmussen Funeral Home in Narrowsburg, N.Y.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Holy Name R.C. Church in Au Sable Forks, N.Y. at 10 a.m. on Friday, October 7, 2005. Fr. Phillip Allen will officiate.


Interment will follow immediately at the Fairview Cemetery in Au Sable Forks.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his name to the Veterans of Foreign Wars or St. Judes Childrens Research Hospital.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Rasmussen Funeral Home.
