Obituary
MARSHFIELD - William F. "Binz" Hanzl Jr., 71, of Marshfield Hills, a retired marketing manager, died Thursday at Jordan Hospital in Plymouth after a brief illness.
Mr. Hanzl worked for John Hancock and retired in 1986. He previously worked at United Shoe and built harpsichords in Waltham while he was in college.
He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, cooking, creative writing and classical music.
He served in the Korean War in the Army.
Born in Elizabeth, N.J., he was raised in Cranford, N.J. He spent summers in Orleans, where he fished commercially for striped bass and scallops from his own boat.
He attended Boston University on the G.I. Bill and graduated in 1963 with a degree in business.
Husband of the late Ann Bachulus Hanzl, he is survived by two sons, Christopher Howland Hanzl of Sanford, Maine, and William Matthew Hanzl of West Lebanon, Maine; a brother, Zeke Hanzl of Shelburne, Vt.; and two grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at North Community Church.
