HANSEN, Sydney Vaughn
Sydney Vaughn Hansen passed from this earth on June 17, 2010 after a long battle with cancer. She was born December 30, 1930, in Hartford, CT. Vaughn lived in Coventry, Connecticut from 1948 to 1964 where she was a volunteer for the Coventry Little League and the Firemen's Auxiliary. In 1964 she moved to West Hartford with her family and worked for Roytype, a division of Royal Typewriter. She was a member of the Elmwood Community Church and was very active in the Circle Six Society doing charitable work. She will be remembered for her infinite love, humor, and generosity. She was the beloved wife for 62 years of Edward R. Hansen and mother of Donald Hansen and Claudia Haxton. She leaves behind four grandchildren, Lance Hansen, Karina Fournier, Daysha and Brian Haxton, two sisters Ethel Barnsbee of New York and Alice Kulakowski of Connecticut, and four great-grandchildren, Serena Briggs, Paige, Marin, and David Fournier. She is survived by family members Elynore Livingston Perry, Marilyn Livingston, Martha Hansen, Valerie Hansen, Peter Fournier, Brian Haxton, Clive Barnsbee, and numerous other nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be private with interment at Fairview Cemetery in West Hartford. In lieu of flowers a contribution may be made in her name to Elmwood Community Church, 26 Newington Rd. West Hartford, CT 06110. The family would like to thank everyone who knew Vaughn and performed acts of kindness in this time of sorrow.
