Obituary for Ernest J. Filiault
BOSTON – Ernest "Ernie" J. Filiault, 65, died Sunday, January 1, 2012 at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. Ernie was born in Pittsfield on July 20, 1946 to Maria (DeMarro) Filiault of Pittsfield and the late Edward Filiault. Ernie graduated from Wahconah Regional High in 1964. He continued his education at the former North Adams State College where he graduated in 1979 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business. Ernie Worked for forty-seven years in the defense industry, most recently with L-3 Communications in Muskegon, MI. Ernie loved people, bringing smiles to the faces of those he met and loved throughout his life. Ernie never missed an opportunity to talk or lend an ear; be it as a devoted father during a family trip, as a committed volunteer at St. Joseph and St. Marks, as a fair manager and reliable peer in the office, as an engaging patron at the local diner, as a compassionate friend at his monthly supper club, or as a loving husband on the couch with his wife. He will be missed by many. In his later years, he enjoyed vacationing with his wife in Hawaii and Aruba. In addition to his mother, he leaves on this earth, to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of forty-two years, Judith E. (Fraley) of Grand Haven, MI; his two sons, Scott M. Filiault his wife, Isabel Diaz and their children, Lauren and Nicholas all of Manchester, CT and Matt E. Filiault of Manchester, CT; his daughter, Jacqueline Filiault her husband, Aaron Hughes and their daughter, Giuliana of Vienna, VA; his three brothers, Edward Filiault of Hinsdale, MA, Robert Filiault of Pittsfield and Brian Filiault of Lanesboro and his sister-in-law, Justine Donovan of Dalton. A funeral procession will form at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at the Devanny-Condron Funeral Home, 40 Maplewood Ave. Pittsfield, MA. There will be a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church in Pittsfield. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Visiting hours will be Friday, January 6, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
