Obituary



Lorraine Rita (Desrosier) Thomas, died on June 27, 2015 at the age of 90. Her husband was the late William Robert "Bob" Thomas, who died September 1, 2011. They were married September 10, 1946. She was born in Worcester, MA, February 11, 1925, daughter of Ernest and Helen (Lippe) Desrosier.

She received her business degree from Bucknell University before working as an accountant for over a decade. She then became a dedicated homemaker who focused on raising and managing her family. The family lived in Port Ewen, NY starting in 1958 and moved to Blacksburg, VA in 1975.

She held several volunteer positions at St. Mary's Parish in Blacksburg, VA for many years and was most recently a parishoner at St. Ann's Church in Emmaus, PA where she continued her dedication to her faith and the Catholic Church. She was an avid golfer and an accomplished pianist. She was involved in the Leukemia Society of America as an organizer and donor. She was a member of Wiltwyck Country Club in Kingston NY and Blacksburg Country Club in Blacksburg, VA.

Survivors: She leaves 3 sons, a brother, seven grandhildren and two step-grandchildren inlcuding son Robert W. Thomas and his wife Kathy of Emmaus, PA, and their children Raymond, Robert, Samantha, Jason and Lauren, Dr. Brant W. Thomas and his wife Dr. Laura Heiby of Virginia Beach, VA, and their daughter Helen, and Jay E. Thomas and his wife Carole of Fairfax, VA, and their children Brantley, Ellery, and Chase. She leaves her only brother Edward Desrosier and his wife Irene of Sturbridge, and nieces and nephews.

Services: The funeral Mass will be held on Friday, July 10, 2015, at 10AM, at Notre Dame Church 446 Main Street Southbridge. Burial will follow at New Notre Dame Cemetery N. Woodstock Road Southbridge, MA 01550. Sansoucy Funeral Home 40 Marcy Street Southbridge, MA 01550 is in charge of arrangements.
