DEATH OF MRS WHEELER

The Beloved Mother of of Auburn's Mayor Dies at Poplar Ridge

The mother of the Hon. Cyrenus Wheeler quietly passed away at her home at Poplar Ridge, Cayuga County, this morning at ten o'clock. She had almost reached the ripe old age of four score and 10 years.

Thirza D., wife of Cyrenus Wheeler, Sr., and daughter of William and Merribah Evans, was born in the town of Berkley, Bristol County, Mass., April 1, 1797 and consequently at her death had almost reached her 87th year.

She was united in marriage with her husband, who survives her, on March 18, 1816, and the 67th anniversary of her happy married life would have occurred next month, forty nine years of which have been spent in Cayuga Co. Endowed with a superior intellect, and those womanly graces which fitted her to fill the sphere of a wife and mother, she was
throughout her long married life the center of the family circle; a Christian mother, whose kindness of heart manifested itself in her works, whom none knew, but to love and esteem; whom her children rise up and call blessed, and whose loss they all deeply mourn.

Scriptural passages applicable to her life are found in Proverbs 31st, 26, 27, and 28 vs.-

She openeth her mouth with wisdom, and in her tongue is the law of kindness. She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.

Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.

Mrs. Wheeler will be buried from her home, Friday the 15th, at 10 a.m.

THE EVENING AUBURNIAN, AUBURN, N.Y., WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY l3, 1884
