"Increase of Pension…David Salisbury…Auburn, NY…states that he is now pensioned at a total disability on account of rheumatism and that he claims an increased rating for the reason that disability has increased ant that he is now disabled to 16/ 18ths degree for earning his subsistence by manual labor. His pulse-rate per minute is 84; his respiration 16; his temperature 98 1/ 2 degrees; his height is 5 feet and 3 inches; he weighs 115 pounds, and hes states that he is 86 years of age…suffers from pain in right shoulder and arm and back part of neck and in right hip and leg, joints ache but are not swollen, those of fingers of left hand are tender, muscles of left arm, fore arm, left thigh and leg are tender, some nights sleepless from pain. Appetite good, bowels regular…that he has deafness commencing in the service and increasing, till now he hears only with great difficulty…upon examining this applicant…he is severely deaf in both ears, cannot hear watch tick when pressed against external ears; muscles of left shoulder arm & forearm, left thigh and leg appear to be tender on manipulation, knuckles and finger joints of left hand enlarged, stiff & tender, cannot stand erect and has hobbling gait. Cardiac signs normal…he is, in our opinion, entitled to a 6/ 18ths rating for the disability caused by deafness approaching total, 10/ 18ths for that caused by rheumatism…the sum of which aggregates 16/ 18ths…"
