Gertrude (Lippe) Carmel, 94, formerly of 60 Charlton St., died Tuesday, Feb. 2nd, in the Radius Healthcare Center, Southbridge, after an illness.
Her husband of 62 years, Felix P. Carmel, died in 2000. She leaves a son, Raymond P. Carmel and his wife Judith of Southbridge a daughter Rita A. Berry and her husband John of Dudley five grandchildren, Sandy Allen and her husband Jim of Charlton, Lori Smith and her husband Craig of Dudley, Michael Berry of Dudley, Kim Kingman and her husband Brian of Chepachett, RI, and Tracie Salviuolo and her husband Anthony of Southbridge 12 great grandchildren 5 great great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Lionel Lippe and a sister Jeannette Tremblay. She was born in Southbridge the daughter of Omer and Marie Louise (Peloquin) Lippe.
Gertrude enjoyed walking and loved her family. She was known as a sweet woman who put others before herself.
Her funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 9th, at 10:00am in St. Mary's Church, 263 Hamilton St., Southbridge. Burial will be in St. George Cemetery, Southbridge. There are no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Allegiance Hospice Group, 67 Middle St. Ste. 503, Lowell, MA 01852-1868 or to the Radius Healthcare Center Activities Fund, 84 Chapin St., Southbridge, MA 01550.
The Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., Southbridge, is directing arrangements.
