SOUTHBRIDGE - Lionel J. Lippe, 83, of 61 Fiske St., a longtime prescription technician at American Optical Co., died Sunday at The Medical Center of Central Massachusetts - Memorial, Worcester, after an illness.
He leaves his wife of 61 years, Germaine D. (Fournier) Lippe; two sons, Donald R. Lippe of South Windsor, Conn., and Dennis P. Lippe of Southbridge; two daughters, Doris J. Cournoyer of Turners Falls and Paulette J. Theodoss of Sturbridge; two sisters, Jeanette Tremblay of Spencer and Gertrude Carmel of Southbridge; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was born in Southbridge, son of Omer and Mary Louise (Peloquin) Lippe, and lived here all his life.
He was a prescription technician at American Optical Co. for 48 years, retiring in 1974.
Mr. Lippe was a member of the American Optical Quarter Century Club.
A memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Notre Dame Church, 456 Main St. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Notre Dame Restoration Fund, 61 Marcy St., Southbridge, 01550; or to the American Kidney Fund, 6110 Executive Blvd., Suite 1010, Rockville, Md. 20852. Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., is directing arrangements.
