David SALISBURY
1863 - July 7 - Disability Discharge
Army of the United States Certificate of Disability for Discharge -- "David Salisbury a Private of Captain Josiah P. Jewett's Company F of the 160th Regiment of United Sates Volunteers was enlisted by Josiah P. Jewett of the 160th Regiment of NYS Vols at Auburn on the Sixth day of September 1862, to serve 3 years; he was born in Saratoga in the State of New York is Forty Two years of age, Five feet Five inches high, Light complexion, Blue eyes, Black hair, and by occupation when listed a cooper. During the last two months said soldier has been unfit for duty 60 days. He has been for the last three months been debilitated and he is also troubled with deafness that renders him unfit to perform Military Duty and in my opinion he never will be able to perform Miliatry Duty again. Station: New Orleans, Date: June 20, 1863, A._ _ Edwards"
"I certify that I have carefully examined the said David Salsbury of Captain J. P. Jewetts Company and find him incapable of performing the duties of a soldier because of deafness & because of old age, he being 62 yrs old & infirm…John Horman, Surgeon, USA.
Discharged this seventeenth day of July 1863 at St. James General Hospital, New Orleans, Lou. John Horman"
