William LUDDINGTON
Biography

William Luddington/ Ludington,Sr.was born in 1607 in Turvey Parish, NorthKelsey, County, Lincoln, England, the son of John Luddington and ElizabethPost of North Kelsey, England.
He was one of one of 6 children there names where: Mary Luddington, Henry Luddington,
John Luddington, Ann Luddington and Elizabeth Luddington. He married Ellen Nicholl on April7, 1635 in Turvey Parish, Wrawley, Lincoln, England. The daughter of Thomas Nicholl and Dorothy George ofEngland. She was born Abt. 1619 in Wrawley,CountyLincoln,England,
and died Bef. 1670 in Branford,NewHaven,Connecticut.
They emigrated to America around 1636and settled in Charleston, Massachusetts Bay Colony which later became the town of Malden.
William was a Weaver & Iron Workerand a large Land Owner in Charleston, than
laterhe moved to New Haven, Connecticut in 1660 settling Near where East Haven is
divided between from Branford on the East side of Quinnipiac River.
William Established the First Iron Smelting plant in the State of Connecticut
and was connected in some way to the Iron Works which had been established
therein 1655.

William died after only living there in New Haven for only a year Bef October 1, 1661
in East Haven, New Haven, Connecticut and he had already become a large property owner. There is record of a William Luddington, the first of this name that died of an unknown throat ailment disease that’s said to have been a very malignant pleurisy and has caused the deaths of many of people in that time and said to have been buried in 1662. his wife died Bef 1670 in Branford, New Haven, Connecticut.

They had 7 children: Thomas (1637-1721), John (1640-1676), Mary (1643-1693), Henry (1645-1676/ 77;died in the French and indian war), Hannah (1652-1691), William Jr (1655-1737), Mathew(1657-1658)
