Jean-Michel APART (PART)
Biography

According to Acadian genealogist Bona Arsenault, Jean-Michel, called Michel, Part, born probably in France in c1693, may have been Pierre dit La Forest's younger brother. It is more likely, however, that he was from an entirely different family, named Apart. Michel married Élisabeth, daughter of Michel Hébert, probably at Minas in c1720. They had at least five children there, two sons and three daughters, before moving to Cobeguit in the 1730s. Their daughter Brigitte married into the Boudrot family at Grand-Pré. Michel died at St.-Jean, Île d'Orléans, on the St. Lawrence below Québec, in September 1758 during Le Grand Dérangement.

Older son Jean-Antoine, born in April 1721, married Marguerite-Josèphe Breau in c1745. By 1750, they had moved to Anse-à-Pinet on Île St.-Jean, today's Prince Edward Island.

Younger son Alexis, born in July 1725, was infirme and never married. In 1752, a French census taker found him at Rivière des Blonds on Île St.-Jean living with brother-in-law Antoine Boudrot, husband of his younger sister Brigitte.

In 1755, Michel Apart and his children could be found on Île St.-Jean.
