THOMAS BURNHAM (THOMAS, ROBERT) was born 1646 in Ipswich, Massachusetts, and died February 21, 1728 in Ipswich, Massachusetts. He married (1) SUSANNAH. According to Vital Records of Ipswich, Massachusetts www.rootsweb.com/ ~maessex/ VitalRecords/ EssexCounty/ Ipswich/ Marriages_AtoB.html#B (page 73), he married (2) LIDIA PENGRY February 13, 1665 in Ipswich, Massachusetts, daughter of MOSES PENGRY and LYDIA CLEMENTS. He married (3) HESTER COGSWELL BISHOP December 16, 1689 in Ipswich, Massachusetts, daughter of WILLIAM COGSWELL and SUSANNA HAWKES.

"1678 Thomas Burnham, Jr., of Ipswich, has right of commonage according to law." 1702 "Thomas Burnham, Gent.," received his appointment as Lieutenant from "Joseph Dudley, Esq., Captain General and Governour in Chief in and over Her majesties Provinces of the Massachusetts Bay in New England in America." Matthew and Phebe Perkins were the grandparents of the well-known inventor, Jacob Perkins, who was born in Newburyport and died in London, England.
