Warren Judd Blessing, Sr was born on July 16, 1922 to the late Burton J. Blessing and Dorothy Harris Blessing in Hartford, Connecticut, and lived his life in Wethersfield, Connecticut, graduating Wethersfield High School in 1941.

Serving his Country from 1942 to 1945 in the U.S. Army and then in the 325th Criminal Investigation Detachment from 1946 to 1949. Warren was a member of American Legion Post # 213 in Wethersfield, Ct. In addition, Warren was a Lifetime member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Wethersfield, serving on several committees and boards.

During his Army career, Warren met the love of his life, Dorothy Houser, whom he married in 1945 in Ponca City, Oklahoma, returning to Wethersfield to enjoy 66 years of marriage. This marriage was blessed with two sons, Warren Jr and Burton Dean Blessing. Warren Jr and his wife Lynda of Coventry, Ct., provided Warren with three grandchildren, Jonathan, Sarah and Matthew. In addition to these grandchildren, one great grandchild, Eleanor brought a smile to Warren’s face each and every time he saw her.

Warren’s vocation started in the Connecticut Motor Vehicle Department in 1947 as a motor vehicle inspector, rising through the ranks to become Director of Dealers and Repairers in 1972, a position he held until his retirement in 1991. During his career he was also active with the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators.

After retirement, Warren took up woodcarving as a hobby, and was an active member of the Connecticut Woodcarver’s Association, specializing in bird carvings and duck decoys.

Warren’s Masonic career started with his raising in Hospitality Lodge #128, Wethersfield, CT., in 1963, after which he served in the line of officer’s becoming Worshipful Master in 1975. While serving in Hospitality Lodge’s line of officers, Warren also was appointed Associate Grand Marshall of Masonic District 6B and served this capacity during 1974 and 1975. He was appointed R.W. District Deputy of District 6C for the years 1981 and 1982.

In addition to these Masonic achievements, K.C. Blessing served on the Grand Lodge of Connecticut Standing Committees of Conditions of Masonry, and the committee of Delinquency and Finance from 1982 thru 1985 and then served as Chairman of the Welfare of Lodges and By-Laws Committee from 1986 thru 1989.

Warren was Exalted in Pythagoras-Welles Chapter # 17 Royal Arch Masons, Greeted in Wolcott Council # 1 Royal and Select Masters and Knighted in Washington Commandry #1 Knights Templar.

In addition to his York Rite memberships, Warren was a member of Charter Oak Lodge of Perfection, Hartford Council Princes of Jerusalem, Cyrus Goodell Chapter of Rose Croix, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Hartford, and Connecticut Consistory, Valley of Norwich. Knight Companion Warren was a Charter member of Nathan Hale Consistory, Valley of Hartford, and served as Commander-in-Chief 1988-1990.

Warren served the Valley of Hartford as Trustee, Director of the Scottish Rite Building Foundation as well as President during the building phase of the new auditorium in Newington, Ct.

Warren was coronated a Sovereign Grand Inspector General 33rd Degree, Honorary Member of the Supreme Council Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Northern Masonic jurisdiction in 1982.

Warren was a member of St. Andrews Conclave Red Cross of Constantine Hartford, Ct., where he served as Puissant Sovereign 1994.

Other Masonic memberships included, Royal Order of Scotland, Sphinx Temple A.A.O.N.M.S. Hartford, Ct. and the Royal Order of Jester’s Hartford Court #141, where he served as both Director and Impresario.

While a member of Sphinx Temple Shiners, Warren was a member of the Director’s Staff, later becoming Secretary. He was appointed Second Ceremonial Master in 1973, rising through the Officer’s Line to become
Potentate of Sphinx Temple in 1978. After this service, Warren served as Director General of the Northeast Shrine Association’s convention, held in Hartford, for the years 1979 and 1990.

After serving as Potentate for Sphinx Temple, Warren served on the Board of Governor’s of the Shiners Hospital for Children, Springfield, Ma. unit, becoming Secretary and then Vice Chairman. The Board of Trustees voted him an Emeritus member of the Board of Governor’s.

Calling hours were held at Fisette-Batzner Funeral home in Newington, Ct February 15th 2012. After a memorial service, private internment was in the Memorial Garden of Trinity Episcopal Church, Wethersfield, Ct. on February 16th, 2012.
