2011 Death of her sister



Mary M. (Karlsen) McCarthy, 86, of Manchester, beloved wife for sixty-three years of James A. McCarthy, died Friday (December 23, 2011) after a short illness.

Mary was born in Manchester on July 24, 1925 to the late Kris and Mina (Abrahamson) Karlsen. She moved to Vernon, graduated from Rockville High School in 1943, and returned to Manchester shortly after.

Mary was an avid duckpin bowler and gardener, and she loved the game of golf. Mary was an honorary member of the Ellington Ridge Country Club and a member of South United Methodist Church.

With her husband, she is survived by two sons, Michael D. McCarthy and his partner Dawn Fountain of Manchester, Christopher J. McCarthy of Vernon, and a grandson, Michael James McCarthy and his partner LeeAnn Daigle of Seymour, CT. She was predeceased by her brother and sisters, Klarence Karlsen, Josephine Kerin, Marium Rother, and Alice Beebe.

Memorial visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main Street, Manchester.
Burial will be private in the East Cemetery in Manchester.
