SOUTHBRIDGE -- Emile S. "Bidu" Plasse, 77, of Maria Avenue, formerly of Webster, a World War II veteran, died Saturday, Aug. 10, in UMass Memorial Medical Center -- University Campus after an illness.

He leaves his wife of 35 years, Madeleine D. (Choiniere-Korch) Plasse; two sons, Leonard Korch of Northbridge, Christopher Plasse of Webster; four daughters, Sharon Troy of Dudley, Debra Korch of Sturbridge, Sandra Plasse and Lisa Kontoes, both of Webster; five grandchildren; nephews and nieces. Two brothers, Joseph H. and Joseph Hector Plasse; and six sisters, Mary Rose Plasse, Cecile Pfeiffer, Venita Plasse, Annette Miller, Louise Siwek and Jeannette Lusignan, all predeceased him. He was born in Webster, son of Oliver and Amanda (Ethier) Plasse, and moved here in 1991. He graduated from Bartlett High School, Webster, and was an Army veteran of World War II.

Mr. Plasse retired in 1990 as supervisor for Cranston Print Co., after 47 years of service. He was also a captain of the Cranston Print Fire Department. He was past commander of the Disabled American Veterans 53, a member of American Legion Post 184, and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6055, Webster. He was active in Webster and state politics. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Webster.
The funeral will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14, from Bartel Funeral Home and Chapel, 33 Schofield Ave., Dudley, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, 16 East Main St., Webster. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13, in the funeral home. Donations may be made to Court of Honor, Veterans Memorial Park, PO Box 222, Webster, MA 01570; or to Sacred Heart Parish Center Gymnasium Fund, 18 East Main St., Webster, MA 01570.
