John A. Baker, Sr.

WARWICK - John A. Baker, Sr., 68, of 213 Airport Rd., and aircraft electrician at the Quonset Point Naval Air Station for 30 years before retiring in 1972, died Thursday at home. He was the husgand of Lillian (Holmander) Baker.

A lifelong Warwick resident, he was a son of the late Harry and Leah (McDermott) Baker.

Mr. Baker was a member of the Warwick Elks and the Federal Employee Retirees Association. Active in sports, he was an umpire or referee in football, baseball and basketball in the Rhode Island Interscholastic League in the 1940s and 1950s.

Besides his wife, he leaves two daughters, Mrs. Nancy Bishop of Dunstable, Mass., and Mrs. Beryl Maynard of Warwick; three sons, George and Barry Baker, both of Warwick, and Dr. John A. Baker, Jr. of Little Rock, Ark.; a sister, Mrs. ALice Mattwes of Warwick; a brother Joseph Garies of Warwick, and seven grandchildren.

The funeral will be held Monday at 9 a.m. from the Raoul G. Henault & Son Funeral Home, 5 Eddy St., West Warwick, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Francis Church, Jefferson Boulevard.
