John B. Lippe Succumbs at Southbridge

SOUTHBRIDGE, Monda - John B. Lippe, 79, of 214 Marcy street, died early yesterday afternoon at Harrington Memorial Hospital following a long illness.

Mr. Lippe was the town's first drum major and appeared with the old Southbridge Brass Band in many parts of the state. He was also one of the town's first call firemen, being attached to the Elm Street Station 25 years.

He worked at the American Optical Co., Russell-Harrington Cutlery Co., and the Marcy street plant of the American Optical Co., retiring for the latter plant about four years ago.

Organizations
He was a charter member of the American Optical Co. Quarter Century Club, and Hamilton Rod & Gun Club.

Mr. and Mrs. Lippe celebrated their golden wedding anniversary, June 12, 1943.

Mr. Lippe was born in Lanoraie, P.Q., son of Gilbert and Adelaine (Page) Lippe. He came to Southbridge when very young and was one of the oldest members of Notre Dame parish.

Funeral Wednesday
He leaves his wife, Alida (Chabot) LIppe of this town; two daughters, Yvonne, wife of Patrolman Romeo LeBoeuf and Antoinette, wife of Frank O. Delage; four sons, Hermas, member of the Board of Public Welfare, Ronaldo and Romeo, all of this town and Arcade Lippe of Springfield...
