"Adams, Mass - May 12 - August Bergmann, a well-known German resident of this town, shot and killed himself about noon today. Mr. Bergmann had been despondent for some time because of inability to find work and for several days had been acting strangely. He was absent from dinner this noon and his family became alarmed. his son went looking for him on a hillside toward which the man was seen going earlier in the day, and found his father's body with a bullet hole in his head. Bergman leaves a widow and four children, who reside on Willow Street."

August Bergman Commits Suicide
"August Bergman, 55, committed suicide yesterday by shooting himself through the head. The cause was despondency. Mr Bergman left his home on Willow street before noon, and when he failed to appear at dinner time, his son went to look for him and found him dead by the side of a log at the quarry in the rear of Adams Bros' mill, about a quarter of a mile from his home. He used a 32-caliber revolver and the bullet entered the brain through the right temple. Medical Examiner Brown of North Adams was notified. Mr Bergman was a native or Germany, and had lived at Adams for 17 years. He had worked in the different mills, but last winter his hand was injured and he had since been unable to work. This worried him and his family noticed that he had been acting strangely for a few days, but they did not suspect that he would attempt suicide. He leaves a widow and four children."
