David SALISBURY
1892 Death Notice
Date: November 02, 1892
Location: New York
Paper: Northern Christian Advocate
Article type: Mortuary Notice
"SALSBURY - David Salsbury died in Auburn, N. Y., at the residence of his son George Salsbury, Oct. 16, 1892, aged 93 years and 9 months. Brother Salsbury was born in Aurora, N. Y. - Jan. 17, 1799. He was converted in a meeting held in his native town many years ago and immediately united with the Presbyterian Church. He remained in that communion until his removal to Auburn, where he soon united with the Wall St. Methodist Episcopal church. While he was one of the most catholic-spirited men, he often expressed himself as more at home with the Methodists than he had been in his former relations. He loved the Wall St. church as a child loves its mother. He lived a full mile away and was quite feeble for years, and yet his seat in church was almost always filled on Sunday morning. For several years past he could not hear one word of the sermon, but he would say, 'I like to be in my place for I know what is going on, if I cannot hear'. He loved class and prayer-meetings and attended them till within four weeks of his death. He was not long ill and went into his last slumber as sweetly as a little child. He was ripe and ready for Heaven.
M.S. Wells."
