The Town of Saratoga has a legacy that is rich history and a current environment that is attractive to residential, commercial, and agricultural pursuits. It is located in the eastern portion of the County bordering the Hudson River on the East, Saratoga Lake and the City of Saratoga Springs on the West, the Town of Stillwater on the South, and the Towns of Northumberland and Wilton on the North. It was originally a district within Albany County and subsequently in 1791 became one of the four mother towns of Saratoga County. The first European settlers arrived in the town in 1688. The Town of Saratoga is the site of the Surrender of General Burgoyne to General Gates, an event that is noted as the Turning Point of the Revolutionary War...

The village of Schuylerville was incorporated in 1831
In 1828, Phillip Schuyler II built the Horicon Mill, the second cotton mill to be built in the state. On April 16th, 1831. under a special act of the state legislature, the Village of Schuylerville was incorporated. The name change from Saratoga to Schuylerville was done to honor the early and long continued residence of the Schuyler family. Gilbert Purdey was the first president. The village was laid out by Mr. Gilbert Clements and Phillip Schuyler 2nd acted in the capacity of chairman of the village layout committee.

1864 - GREAT CONFLAGRATION IN SARATOGA. THE WATER CURE ESTABLISHMENT AT SARATOGA BURNED.
Troy, N. Y., Tuesday, July 5.
The fire at Saratoga on Monday destroyed all the buildings on Broadway south of Union Hall to the Clarendon Hotel. West of these the buildings are small wooden structures, except the Water Cure, in which the fire originated, and which was destroyed. The total loss is $60,000. None of the large hotels were in the least injured.

It is bounded on the north by Wilton and Northumberland, on the east by the county line (the Hudson river), on the south by Stiliwater, and on the west by Saratoga Springs and Malta, part of the two latter towns consisting of the water of Saratoga lake. The Revised Statutes describe the town as follows:
The town of Saratoga shall contain all that part of said county bounded northerly by Northumberland and Wilton, easterly by the east bounds of the county, southerly by Stillwater, and westerly by Saratoga Springs and Malta.

1902 BROOKLYN GIRLS' INJURY.
FANNIE AND MARY BIDEN SERIOUSLY HURT BY A RUNAWAY AT SARATOGA.

Saratoga, N.Y., Aug. 25. - MISS FANNIE BIDEN of 871 Union Street, Brooklyn, who for several weeks has been a guest at Congress Hall, was probably fatally injured on South Broadway, near Circular Street, this morning.
Accompanied by her sister, MISS MARY BIDEN, with whom she was walking, she started to cross the street, when both were knocked down and run over by a runaway horse.
They were taken in an unconscious condition to Congress Hall, where it was found that FANNIE was suffering from concussion of the brain, bruises of the shoulders, and laceration of the muscles of the back, and that MARY'S injuries consisted of bruises and lacerations of the arms and shock.
FANNIE was still unconscious this evening, and the attending surgeons, Dr. Straus of New York and Dr. G. F. Comstock, fear that she cannot recover.
