Martine HÉBERT was the child of Étienne HÉBERT and Marie GAUDET
Nicolas Barrieau, also called Barriot, Bariault, and Barillot, born in France in c1648, may have come to Acadia aboard L'Oranger. He married Martine, daughter of Étienne Hébert and Marie Gaudet, at Port-Royal in c1682. De Meulles counted them at Port-Royal in 1686, on the eve of their move to the Minas Basin. Nicolas, who the intendant called a Barillot, was age 40, and Martine was 28. They were living with a two-year-old daughter. De Meulles did not give the size of their farm or the numbers of their animals. Martine gave Nicolas nine children, including four sons who created families of their own.

Biography
Nicolas Barrieau, born in France in c1648, may have come to Acadia aboard L'Oranger in 1671. He married Martine, daughter of Étienne Hébert, at Port-Royal in c1682. They moved to the Minas Basin, where they settled first at Grand-Pré then at L'Assomption, Pigiguit, in the early 1700s. Nicolas and Martine had nine children, including four sons who married and created families of their own. Nicolas's daughters married into the Bourg, Doiron, Girouard, and Lord dit Lamontagne families. By the early 1750s, Nicolas's sons and their families had left Pigiguit and moved to French Acadia to escape the hated British.
Oldest son Antoine, born probably at Minas in c1697, married Angélique, daughter of Pierre Thibodeau l'aîné, probably at Pigiguit in c1722. By the early 1750s, Antoine had moved his family to Port-Lajoie on Île St.-Jean, today's Prince Edward Island.
