NEHGR, July 1888, Vol 42, p258:
JOHN BARRETT, married Sarah ______, prior to his settlement at Chelmsford, where he had a grant of land in 1659, and several grants or divisions of common lands later. He was a tithingman, lieutenant, mill-owner, and a comparatively large proprietor of lands. They had two sons born before settling at Chelmsford, and the births of their youngest children are not found on record. Lieut. John Barrett died May 19, 1706. Issue:
i. John, married Dec 18, 1679, Dorothy Proctor; had four children; died Sept 5, 1694
ii. Jonathan, married [1st] Sarah, daughter of Isaac and Mary [Stearns] Learned; had five children; Sarah died Jan 11, 1695. He married [2nd] Abigail [Eames] Wesson, widow of Samuel Wesson; had three children; Abigail died Oct 19, 1706. He married [3rd] Abigail Wilson, daughter of John Wilson of Woburn and widow of Joseph Hildreth; had one child
iii. Lydia, born Sept 22, 1659; married April 11, 1678, James Harwood. Descendants numerous.
iv. Samuel, born June 16, 1661; married Sarah Buttrick of Concord, daughter of William and Sarah [Bateman] Buttrick; had four children
v. Mary, born Mar 13, 1663; married Nathaniel Collar of Sudbury
vi. Margaret, born Nov 10, 1667; died Feb 1681
vii. Joseph, married Abigail Hildreth, daughter of James and Margaret [Ward] Hildreth; had eight children; died April 25, 1742
viii. [???] Sarah, married Dec 8, 1696, Ambrose Swallow
