Biography
'Richard Hazen was adopted, 9 Sept. 1693, by his step-father Lieut. George Browne, as his sole heir, and upon the death of the latter, 21 Oct. 1699, came into his large estate in Haverhill. ; He was an officer in the militia, and served at Constable in Haverhill in 1702.
By his will, dated 28 Aug. 1733, he gave his wife Grace 'what I have agreed and contracted before marriage and five pounds to be paid in room of her Dower'; to his eldest son Richard, all his Homeland with fences and buildings thereon, all his share in the 'pond meadow' and half his ox pasture, etc,; to his younger son Moses, 'besides what I have given him by Deed all my lands in the Great Plain and all that Piece of land where Brewers House stood and all my Interest on the Island in the River and my two common Rights by Deacon Heirses and one of my Lots in the East Meadow lying on the Southwardly side of White's Lot with half of my Pasture called ox common land, and have the sower meadow adjoining thereto,' all...Read MORE...
