John Craggin was taken prisoner, along with 10,000, others by Oliver Cromwell, during the Battle of Dunbar.
John Craggin and 272 other prisoners from the Battle of Dunbar were sent to America 11 Nov 1651 aboard the "John and Sarah," mastered by Captain John Green, landing at Charlestown, Suffolk, Massachusetts, where they were indentured to servitude.
Sarah Dawes sailed with 273 imprisoned soldiers from the Battle of Dunbar aboard the "John and Sarah," mastered by Captain John Green; during the journey, she nursed John Craggin, who had contracted cholera, back to health.
