Invention The microwave oven was invented accidentally in 1945 by Percy Spencer, a Raytheon engineer. While testing a magnetron, he noticed microwaves melted a candy bar in his pocket. Experimenting further, he discovered microwaves could cook food quickly. Raytheon patented the process, and by 1947, they built the first commercial microwave oven, called the 'Radarange.' Initially used in commercial settings, microwaves becomes affordable for home use by the 1960s and 1970s, revolutionizing cooking.

James G. Sanders 84, passed away 9/ 8/ 21, at his home in Wasilla, Alaska with his wife Connie at his side. Born in Yazoo City, Miss., “Jim” retired in Alaska from the Air Force as a Master Sgt. and became a successful entrepreneur owning dental labs in Anchorage and Wasilla. He was a private pilot who enjoyed flying, fishing, hunting and golf. In recent years he and his wife spent summers in Alaska and winters in Leesburg and Palm Bay, Florida. A kind and generous man leaving behind a family of 4 generations.
