John Peter Reith (Reed) was the son of John George Reith and Anna Catherina Anspach Bern. His family traveled from Germany to America in 1709-1710. His father died at sea. The family eventually settled in Berks County, PA. He married Anna Catharina Feg and had 8 children: Anna Catherine, Eve Elizabeth, Casper, Leonard, John Jacob, John, Peter and John Heinrich Reed.
