Miss Anderson, who is a graduate of Quincy high school, is employed at the Boston and Albany Credit Union in Boston. Pfc. Payne, who has been in the service for the past three years, is stationed at Camp Hingham. He attended Gardner high school.

Experimenting further, he discovered microwaves could cook food quickly. Raytheon patented the process, and by 1947, they built the first commercial microwave oven, called the 'Radarange.' Initially used in commercial settings, microwaves becomes affordable for home use by the 1960s and 1970s, revolutionizing cooking.

Agnes Marie Payne was born March 29, 1921, in Boston, Mass., the daughter of Oscar Anderson and Clara (Andersen) Anderson. She passed away from this life on June 16, 2003, in Prescott. She was 82 years old.

Agnes married Clifford A Payne on Oct. 12, 1945. They lived in Gardner, Mass., and Phoenix before moving to Prescott in 1986.

Agnes was the first woman Vice President of the Gardner Savings Bank in Gardner, Mass. Agnes was also the business manager for the Arizona Education Association in Phoenix before retiring to Prescott.

Mrs. Payne was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was also an active volunteer at the information desk at YRMC. She loved to travel and play cards with her friends.

Her husband, Clifford, and her brother, Arthur, preceded her in death. She is survived by her sister, Grace Riley of Hingham, Mass.; a brother, Walter Anderson of Florida; brother-in-law, Ashton L Payne of Gardner, Mass; nieces Peggy Johnston, Veronica Thompson and Mary Ann...Read MORE...
