Biography
Alexander Hamilton was a fascinating figure whose life was marked by a combination of brilliance, ambition, and controversy. Born on January 11, 1755 (or 1757, as the exact year is disputed) in Charlestown, the capital of the island of Nevis in the West Indies, Hamilton faced a challenging upbringing. His parents were unmarried, and his father abandoned the family when Hamilton was just a child. Tragedy struck further when Hamilton's mother died when he was around 13, leaving him orphaned.

Hamilton's intelligence and determination caught the attention of local businessmen who recognized his potential. They pooled resources to send him to the mainland American colonies for education. 1801 - The popular tabloid New York Post was originally established in 1801 as a Federalist newspaper called the New York Evening Post by Alexander Hamilton, an author of the Federalist papers and the nation’s first secretary of the treasury.
In 1801, Alexander Hamilton, a prominent figure in American history known for his role in shaping the nation's financial system, founded the New York Evening Post, which would later become the popular tabloid known as the New York Post. Hamilton, one of the authors of the Federalist Papers and the nation's first Secretary of the Treasury, established the newspaper as a Federalist publication. The Federalist Party, led by Hamilton, John Adams, and others, supported a strong central government and policies that favored business and industry.

Under Hamilton's guidance, the New York Evening Post became known for its articulate and influential commentary on political and economic issues of the time. Hamilton's vision for the newspaper reflected his own political beliefs and desire to shape public opinion in support of Federalist principles.

1804 - Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr Dueled to the Death (July 11)
On the morning of July 11, 1804, Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr raised their dueling pistols and took aim. Hamilton, the former secretary of the treasury, and Vice President Burr were longstanding political rivals and personal enemies. Burr might have been the president instead of vice president, had it not been for Hamilton's interference. When Burr's term as vice president was almost over, he ran for governor of New York. Hamilton, once again, prevented Burr from winning by opposing his candidacy. Burr retaliated by challenging Hamilton to a duel.

Standing on the heights of Weehawken, New Jersey, Hamilton and Burr fired their pistols. Some people said that Hamilton purposely missed Burr. Burr's shot, however, fatally wounded Hamilton, leading to his death the following day. Aaron Burr escaped unharmed.

Burr was indicted for murder, but the charges were later dropped.
