"During the same era, in Normandy, Francois Abraham Fiset was born. On 31 August 1635, Jacques de La Brecque and Catherine de Caux brought their son to the baptismal font at the church of Saint-Ignace in Dieppe... About 1653, the nineteen year old Fiset left his country forevermore, crossed the broad Atlantic and sailed up the Saint-Lawrence to Quebec." Thomas J. On 30 November 1663, he appeared at the house of Jean Provost in Beauport where notary Paul Vachon had come to settle the terms of the marriage contract. The son of Abraham Fiset and of Catherine Lebrecque, from the parish of Saint-Joachim in Dieppe... confronted Simon Savard and Marie Hourdouille, his future in-lawas, and his beautiful bride, Denise...The bride and groom were married in joint ownership of property. What do we know of Denise Savard? Only that she was born at Montreal-sous-Bois, in the parish of Saint-Pierre, near Paris, where her parents had been married on 15 June 1644. The 18 years old Denise, the eldest of 6 known Savard children, arrived in Canada in the summer of 1663, after the most arduous of crossings. Her father Simon, a master cartwright, had suffered a great deal during the voyage, as a result of which he died prematurely in 1664." Thomas J.
