THOMPSON -- Norma P. Szkutak, 70, of Thompson Hill Rd., died Monday at the UMASS Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, MA, following an extended illness.

She was born in Webster, MA on February 25, 1934, a daughter of the late George and Mae (Ostberg) Korch. Mrs. Szkutak was the wife of Edward J. Szkutak, whom she married on November 4, 1972 in Thompson.

Norma was employed for many years as a cementer as Bates Shoe Company in Webster.

In addition to her husband, she leaves one daughter, Robin Dumouchel of Putnam, two brothers Donald Korch of North Grosvenordale and Harold Korch of Putnam, two sisters Jane Plaza and Barbara Kopas, both of Dudley, MA, four grandchildren Kerri and Kyle Connors, Thomas Dumouchel and Angie Loyde, as well as four stepchildren. She was predeceased by one son, Gary Korch.

The funeral and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Valade Funeral Home, 23 Main Street, North Grosvenordale, is assisting with the arrangements.

NORTH GROSVENORDALE, CT Edward J. Szkutak 70 of Thompson Hill Road died Wednesday August 16, 2006 in Worcester. He was the husband of the late Norma (Korch) Szkutak. Born in Epernay, France, he was the son of the late Kazimierz "Casimir" Szkutak and Catherine (Krzystyniak) Szkutak. He lived in North Grosvenordale for the last 31 years.

Mr. Szkutak worked as a lift operator for the former Anchor Glass Co. He served in the Army during the Korean War.

He is survived by a son, Roger Szkutak of Northbridge, MA 3 daughters, Cynthia Lafortune of Grosvenordale, Ct, Marie-Claire Songhurst of Moosup, Ct, and Kathleen Nutter of Putnam, Ct a step daughter, Robin Dumouchel of Putnam, Ct 16 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was the father of the late Daniel C. Szkutak.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday August 25, 2006 at 9:30 am in St Joseph's Church, 20 Main St. North Grosvenordale. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. Valade Funeral Home is entrusted with his arrangements.
