"On 6 January, an agreement by the heirs, to sell the estate of Sebastien and Catherine to Louis Provencher, tells us that our two ancestors probably died at the same time, or nearly so, about the end of 1710. Sebastien lived to be 82 or 83 years old and Catherine, 56 years old." Thomas J. Laforest Our French-Canadian Ancestors : Volume V, Page 210 |

Marie Catherine Guillet married
Source: NOTE: Marie Catherine Guillet is referred to as widow of Jacques Masse in her second marriage to Sebastien Provencher -- Drouin Collection According to PRDH, a marriage contract was signed between Jacques Masse and Catherine Guillet at an undetermined place in Quebec, Canada in 1669. "...on 18 November 1669 before notary Jean Cusson, he signed a marriage contract uniting his destiny to that of Marie-Catherine Guillet, daughter of Pierre Guillet and Jeanne de Saint-Pere, living in Cap-de-la-Madeleine. Catherine had been born at Quebec on 18 June 1656. Her father was a master carpenter and it was he who seems to have built most the first houses at Cap-de-la-Madeleine. In the marriage contract, Jacques is mentioned as being the son of Jacques Masse and Philippe David, from Saint-Pierre-Chausse (Chole or Cholet), in Anjou... At his marriage, for which the religious act is lost, Jacques was 28 years old (even though the census of 1666 gives him 30 years) and Catherine was but 13." Thomas J. In the forenoon of 27 April 1691, the venerable notary Jean Cusson himself, presided at the home of the widow... Sebastien and Catherine accepted a contract... The nuptial ceremony followed the signing of the contract by little more than two weeks.
